Banán – Hawaii’s Famous Frozen Treats – Says Aloha to San Francisco. The innovative banana-based ice cream opens in Noe Valley
SAN FRANCISCO (May 31, 2024) Banán, Hawaii’s Famous Frozen Treats brand, is set to
open its first California location in the heart of Noe Valley on Sunday, June 2, 2024. The 700
square foot store located at 3862 24 th Street, directly across from Noe Valley Town Square,
marks a significant milestone in Banán’s expansion as it brings its delicious plant-based
frozen treats to the U.S. Mainland.
Bay area residents can look forward to a menu featuring
Banán’s classic tropical flavors such as Strawberry Liliko’i
(passionfruit), Chocolate Haupia (coconut), Acai Berry,
and toppings like their fan-favorite Macadamia Nut Honey
Butter, which has won praise from the likes of “Sex and the
City” star Sarah Jessica Park, who had a jar of the butter sent
to her New York City townhouse.
“We’d like to say that if a smoothie bowl and a frozen yogurt
had a baby, that baby would be
Banán,” says Matt Hong Banán co-founder. “Our simple
ingredient offerings have grown to be a favorite amongst
locals and visitors alike in Hawaii, and we are thrilled to share
our unique offerings with the San Francisco community.”
In addition to Banán’s delectable classics, the Noe Valley
location will offer locally inspired flavors that pay homage to California’s rich agricultural
landscape.
“We’re bringing our Hawai’i classics with a California twist,” explains Zak Barry, Banán co-
founder and new Bay Area resident. “For example, our signature Macadamia Nut Honey
Butter will continue to use Hawaii-grown macadamia nuts, but we will blend them with
California-harvested honey – an evolution and ode to our Hawai’i roots but with a Cali twist.”
Banán, founded by four childhood friends in 2014 with a little food truck as the base of
Diamond Head, has grown into a beloved brand with multiple locations across O'ahu. Known
for its commitment to healthy, sustainable eating, Banán’s ice-cream is made entirely from
bananas with no dairy, no added sugar, and only wholesome ingredients.
BAY AREA INCEPTION
“In a way, we are bringing Banán back to the Bay. We all grew up in Hawaii together, but the
idea was born out of our college kitchens while a few of us were attending Stanford and UC
Santa Cruz,” explains Matt Hong, co-founder, and UC Santa Cruz alumni from the class of
2014.”We couldn’t be more thrilled to be back. We are ready to bust out our old wetsuits and
surf the cold waters.”

To celebrate, Banán is offering $1 cups to the first 100 customers on Sunday, June 2 nd . The
